Research to Policy

One of the main objectives of CPRsouth has been to give the necessary tools for young researchers to enable them to be policy intellectuals.However, getting good research into the policy process has always proved to be a challenge for researchers.

The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), South Africa has identified some of the resources that would assist researchers and scholars to enter the policy process.

A key aspect of converting research into policy is communication. CPRsouth4 tutorials had a 2 hour time slot set side to teach young scholars about communications Strategies.

Call for papers: International Telecommunications Society (ITS) 18th Biennial Conference, June 27 – 30 June 2010, Tokyo, Japan

The call for papers for the International Telecommunications Society (ITS) 18th Biennial Conference is announced. The conference will be held from June 27 to 30, 2010, in Tokyo, Japan. The Conference theme is “Culture, Communication and the Cutting Edge of Technology”.

This is a commemorative conference to celebrate the silver anniversary of ITS conferences worldwide. A quarter of century has passed since the first conference under the name of ITS was held in 1986 in Tokyo.

Submissions are invited from all areas of telecommunications policy, business and academia. Online abstract submissions will be accepted from mid-October at the Conference website: Online registration, hotel reservations and details of the social program will also be made available shortly. Call for Proposals: The First Doctoral Consortium of the Communication and Technology Division of the ICA, 21 June 2010, Singapore

The Communication and Technology (CAT) Division proudly announces the first-ever Doctoral Consortium to be held in conjunction with the 2010 Conference of the International Communication Association. The consortium will be held at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore on June 21, 2010.

Goal of the Doctoral Consortium
The consortium intends to bring together PhD candidates working on Communication and Technology to give them the opportunity to present and discuss their research in a constructive and international atmosphere. The goals of the event are to provide feedback and advice to participating PhD candidates on their in-progress research thesis. Moreover, the doctoral consortium will provide the opportunity to meet experts as well as fellow PhD candidates from different backgrounds working on related topics.
