Myeong-Cheol is a Professor at the Dept of Management Science, School of Innovation & Dept of IT Business, of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea. He has previously been appointed as, the Dean, School of Business of the former Information and Communcation University (ICU) (2000-2001), the Director of IT Business Research Institute, ICU (2002-2003) as well as the Dean, IT Business School, ICU (2003-2004). He served as the head of the Telecommunications Management Section of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) (1981-1997) as well as a member of the Editorial committee of the ETRI Journal (1997-2004).He was a member of Government Committee of Management Appraisal for Privatizing Korea Telecom (1994- 1995) and a member of the Telecom Committee appointed for the 2002 Football World Cup (1997-2002). He worked as a policy consultant for the ADB, “The Technical Assistance for the Third Telecommunications Project, Indonesia (1995). Myeong-Cheol was a visiting Professor at the, Institut National des Telecommunications (INT), France (2004-2005).
He is the current Vice President Technology and Innovation Society and the Korea Valuation Association of Technology Enterprise. He is also a member of the editorial committee of the Journal of the Korean Institute of Communication Science and a founder director of Communication Policy Research South.
His research has led to a wealth of publications both in Korean and International Journals. His research interests include Telecommunications Management Strategy and Economics, IT Venture Business Management and Information Technology and E-business Management.
